Deputy State Secretary Ferenc Kumin, currently in New York, also condemned to the greatest possible degree Jobbik MP Márton Gyöngyösi’s comments.
Deputy State Secretary Kumin emphasised that the Government condemns these kinds of statements to the greatest possible degree and he will voice this standpoint during his talks in the United States. Deputy State Secretary Kumin, who is on a week-long visit to the United States, met with representatives of Freedom House on Monday and is scheduled to meet representatives of Jewish associations, journalists and opinion-forming public figures.
He stated that the situation of the Jewish community in Hungary and anti-Semitism will also be part of his discussions and expressed his deep regrets that the recent comments in Parliament make the topic timely. However, he added that it may prove to be fortunate that he can immediately provide first-hand detailed information on the Government’s condemning opinion.
