Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén visited South Africa. The main goals of the visit were to further strengthen relations with the Hungarian diaspora, help safeguard their national identities as well as to promote national policy goals and concrete measures of the Government with special regard to the opportunities provided by the Citizenship Law.
The Deputy Prime Minister gave a lecture at the South African Hungarian Association. He met with representatives of Hungarians in Western Cape province after which he met with Honorary Consuls Andre Pelser and László Tóth.
The high-level meetings provided a great opportunity to review bilateral cooperation. Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén was welcomed by National Assembly Speaker Max Sisulu, then negotiated with Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, the Chairperson of the ruling African National Congress and the Chairman of Western Cape province.
Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén met with the Minister of Education of Western Cape province Donald Grant and Minister of Social Development of Western Cape province Albert Fritz.
