Two days prior to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s official visit to China on Wednesday, the Chinese-Hungarian Joint Economic Committee is holding a session in Beijing.
Chinese Deputy Minister of Commerce Chung San and Hungarian Government Commissioner for Chinese-Hungarian relations Péter Szijjártó, the Co-chairs of the Committee, are discussing possibilities for further boosting bilateral commercial relations.
During the session, representatives of the Hungarian Government are seeking to introduce Hungarian innovation and investment projects to Chinese investors within the fields of agriculture, IT, biotechnology, renewable energies and tourism. Additionally, the Hungarian business environment and opportunities offered by industrial parks will also be presented.
Developing economic ties with China is a pillar of the Government’s Opening towards the East Policy, that is why it is important to hold negotiations with the Chinese Government on increasing bilateral trade, Péter Szijjártó said.
The Government Commissioner is scheduled to meet Deputy Foreign Minister Wang Chao and to hold talks on development bank projects.
Last year, Hungary managed to intensify its outbound trade to China. In the first eleven months of 2013, exports increased by 10 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while total trade increased by 3 percent.
