The expansion of the Oroszlány (Central Transdanubia) factory of American turbocharger manufacturer BorgWarner is worth over HUF 8 billion (EUR 27.7 million). The new production hall was inaugurated by State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó.
The State Secretary noted that the Government has concluded one-third of its strategic partnership agreements with American firms, and thus Hungarian-American economic relations can be regarded as a success story.
He stressed that the number of people employed in Hungary has increased by 160 thousand since 2010, and the expansions of automotive companies have greatly contributed to this.
Attila Bogár Attila, CEO of BorgWarner Turbo Systems Kft. said that their production capacity has been increased with the help of HUF 1.5 billion state funding.
The project has created almost a hundred new jobs. The firm currently employs 661 persons, which may increase by 20-30 percent in the long term.
BorgWarner produces turbochargers for cars made by Audi, Volkswagen, Fiat, GM, Volvo, Renault, the PSA group and BMW.
