Agriculture is hoped to be a highly successful priority area in Hungarian-Azerbaijani relations, Hungary's State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations said on Wednesday.

In this area, the two countries regard cooperation in food safety and animal health particularly important, Péter Szijjártó stated, assessing the plenary meeting of the Azerbaijani-Hungarian joint economic committee in Baku. He highlighted that at the meeting, an agreement was signed on further cooperation in animal health, and added that the Azerbaijani government has approved central budget allocations for buying 10,000 heads of Hungarian cattle.

The two countries' air traffic agreement has also been renewed and their partnership in water management expanded. In the context of boosting bilateral relations, Mr Szijjártó noted as prospective areas the construction industry, infocommunication and culture. Speaking about concrete cultural projects, he noted the Hungarian government's scholarships for 200 Azerbaijani students and preparations for opening a Hungarian cultural centre in Baku.
