Hungary's Government will spend 120 billion forints (EUR 417 million) on developing infrastructure links with neighbouring countries in the next 18 months, Deputy State Secretary for External Affairs at the Prime Minister’s Office Levente Magyar said at the inauguration of two roads crossing the Hungarian-Austrian border at Zsira, on Wednesday.

Deputy State Secretary Magyar said the Government would soon start talks with officials of Burgenland, Austria's easternmost province, on a medium-term infrastructure development plan.

The two roads, connecting Zsira with Nikitsch (Füles) and Lutzmannsburg (Locsmánd), were constructed for a total cost of 1.05 million euros, 85% of which was covered by the European Union. Fidesz MP Ferenc Ivanics of the region stressed the strong commitment of ethnic Hungarians, Austrians and Croatians to living in close cooperation.
