ICTY Judge Árpád Prandler passed away at 84

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary has learned with deep sorrow that Ambassador Árpád Prandler, 84, passed away on February 4, 2014. In addition to serving as a diplomat of Hungary, Ambassador Prandler was a university professor in international law and a judge of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

Hungarian teachers’ salaries rose twice within the last six months – by 34 percent last September and by an additional 8-10,000 forints (EUR 26-33) in January. These Government decisions show that the state regards the quality education of children as a high priority. This duty – undertaken in concert with families – is clearly visible in the renewal of the education system and the increased moral and material recognition of the work of teachers.

Hungarian vehicle manufacturing sector produces 10 percent of GDP

Hungary’s vehicle manufacturing industry produced some EUR 18bn last year, which amount constitutes 18 percent of total Hungarian manufacturing industry output, 10 percent of Hungary’s GDP and 18 percent of total Hungarian exports, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga said at the ceremony for presenting the “Award for Successful Enterprises”, the first such event this year.

Funding of HUF 6.9bn to help young people become entrepreneurs
