Meeting of Chiefs of Defence

Maj-Gen. Alojz Šteiner, Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces, and his Hungarian counterpart, Chief of the MoD Defence Staff Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő had a meeting in Hungary on Thursday, July 28. At the event held in Lenti, the two parties discussed, among others, the future of the Hungarian-Italian-Slovenian Multinational Land Forces (MLF), the issue of pooling and sharing forces and defence capabilities, and the ways how to further strengthen military-to-military relations between the two countries.

Compensation for Farmers because of GMO-contaminated Seeds

At the initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development, the government has brought a decision to pay Hungarian farmers who have suffered damages as a result of seeds contaminated with genetically modified organisms (GMOs) compensation equal to 360 thousand forints per hectare.

The Lágymányosi Bridge is now called Rákóczi Bridge

The Geographical Names Committee has decided to change the name of Lágymányosi Bridge to Rákóczi Bridge. The new name was proposed by Minister of National Development Tamás Fellegi in governmental support of the initiative put forward by the Budapest City Council.

Medal Parade in Pristina

The traditional medal parade for Hungarian and Portuguese peacekeepers serving in Camp Slim Lines, Pristina, Kosovo was held on Monday, July 25. Maj.-Gen. József Kovács, Commander, HDF Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) also attended the ceremony, which was organized for the troops who are going to complete their tour of duty abroad in these days.

Head of the MoD Cabinet Office Gives Briefing on Military Career Model

The HR strategy and the new military career model were the topics on the agenda of the Commanders’ conference, held on Friday, 22nd of July at the HDF Joint Force Command (JFC) in Székesfehérvár. During the event Dr. Gábor Szarka, Head of the MoD Cabinet Office and Lt.-Gen. Zoltán Orosz, Deputy Chief of the MoD Defence Staff gave a briefing on the changes concerning the introduction of the new career model, adopted by the Minister of Defence.
