Hungary has assigned an ambassador to serve in Iraq for the first time in 22 years. Tibor Szatmári presented his credentials to Khudayr Musa Jafar Abbas al-Khuzai, the Vice President of Iraq, in Baghdad and will travel to the city on a regular basis until a permanent mission is established there.

On 25 April 2013, the Leipzig based European Energy Exchange (EEX) held its second auction of Hungarian EUA emission units listed in the second trading period of the emission trading system of the European Union (EU ETS). With the sale of the remaining 2,587,000 EUA units, Hungary has sold its last EUA quotas in the relevant period.
According to a report by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) published this morning, the total number of those in employment increased further in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year. The number of people in employment aged 15-74 years increased to 3 million 818 thousand and thus their employment rate edged up to 50 percent. In the period January-March 2013, the number of people in employment in the 15-64 year age group was also up from 3 million 756 thousand one year ago to 3 million 787 thousand, an increase of 31 thousand.
