Newly discovered natural gas reserves in Israel could help Hungary ease its dependence on Russian energy, Hungarian State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó said in an interview for the Jerusalem Post. "Hungary is very dependent on Russian gas. We heat 80 percent of our houses with gas and import 90 percent of our gas from Russia. Being so dependent means that we're relatively vulnerable", State Secretary Szijjártó said, summing up his two-day visit to Israel last week. He said that Hungary could become a central European distribution centre for Israeli gas, he added.

New railway schedule brings about favourable changes for hundreds of thousands

The new railway schedule is to take effect from 15 December, 2013, offering the most significant increase in service supply in recent years. It is the completion of the railway modernisation between Budapest and Székesfehérvár that brings about developments affecting the highest number of passengers. Thanks to the second track inaugurated between Kelenföld and Tárnok this summer, the capacity of the Székesfehérvár line has increased and trains may travel at a speed of up to 120 km/h. With the professional support of the Ministry of National Development, MÁV-START Ltd. has worked out a new schedule structure for several Transdanubian railway lines. International rail transport is also to be expanded by new trains and destinations added.

HUF 1.7bn for the School Milk Programme
