The European Union’s Ministers of Environmental Protection called attention to the issues of healthy lifestyle and environmental protection when they set out on bicycles from their hotel on Margaret Island to the conference on environmental protection held at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
At a consultation session arranged in Budapest on the draft Fundamental Law, Parliamentary Minister of State Bence Rétvári said that the Fundamental Law will create a fundamentally new standard in family values and in protection of the interests of the future generation: the young of today. The new fundamental law will express fundamental values, and will speak out in defence of life, the family and marriage.

On 21 March 2011, in Brussels the extraordinary meeting of energy ministers convened by Minister of National Development Tamás Fellegi discussed the consequences of the North African events and the earthquake and tsunami that affected Japan. In the framework of the single agenda item, the participants discussed the current state of energy industry and the impacts of the recent events on the energy market. They exchanged views on the short, medium- and long-term responses required of the European Union and the Member States.

On 16 March 2011, with a significant majority the Hungarian National Assembly Parliament adopted the draft act No. T/1941 and the related amending motions submitted by the Ministry of National Development. The act approved by the MPs, among others, transposes a significant part of the legislation of the so-called 3rd energy package of the European Union into Hungarian law.
It was the first time that the Education, Youth, Culture and Sports Council held a meeting in Brussels during the Hungarian EU Presidency. The meeting focused on the role of education in achieving the objectives set by the community for the period till 2020.
