Between 4 and 10 July, the HR Department of the Ministry of Defence and the National Roma Self-government organizes an Equal Opportunities Camp in Tata, at the HDF 25th ‘Klapka György’ Infantry Brigade. The program is meant to raise awareness of equal opportunities, in accordance with the objectives laid down in ministerial directives, and to present and demonstrate the Ministry’s special activities and professional work related to equal opportunities. Mr. Pál Völner, Minister of State for Infrastructure and Ms. Anca Boagiu, the Romanian Minister of Transport and Infrastructure signed an intergovernmental agreement on border crossing stations of two expressways in Budapest on 5th July, 2011. The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) held a weeklong meeting of its highest decision-making body, the FAO Council, in Rome. During the most prominent event of the 37th session of the FAO Conference, delegation leaders met Pope Benedict XVI. A ceremony to mark the handover of the position of EUFOR Deputy Commander/Chief of Staff (DCOM/COS) and the responsibilities of the Hungarian Senior National Representative (SNR) took place on Tuesday, June 28 in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo. The event marked the formal transfer of authority (TOA) from Brig.-Gen. Tibor Nagy – who has served as DCOM/COS for 17 months – to Brig.-Gen. Zoltán Gulyás. Maj.-Gen. József Kovács, Commander, Hungarian Defence Forces Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) also attended the ceremony.

The extraordinary general assembly of the Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail (OTIF) approved of the European Union’s accession to the Convention concerning International Carriage by Rail (COTIF) on 23 June 2011 in Bern. On behalf of the rotating Presidency of the European Union, Tamás Iván Kovács, Deputy State Secretary for European Union and International Affairs of the Hungarian Ministry of National Development signed the accession agreement closing the inter-organisational negotiations that have been going on for several years.
The sport related tasks of the Hungarian EU Presidency came to an end with the Informal Meeting of EU Sport Directors. On the final meeting day, chaired by Attila Czene, State Minister for Sport of the Ministry of National Resources, the sport directors discussed about the common challenges faced by European sport, the cooperation with third countries and the role of volunteering in sport. Mr. Pál Szekeres deputy state secretary for sport also participated at the meeting.

The final session of the Agricultural and Fisheries Council during the Hungarian Presidency was held in Luxembourg, where Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Maria Damanaki, Commissioner for Agriculture Dacian Cioloş and Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy John Dalli all judged the past six months as having been extremely successful. All three thanked the Hungarian Presidency for its conscientious and outstanding work.
