The HDF National Support Element Afghanistan (HDF NSE) deployed to Mazar-e Sharif received its four brand new, armoured Toyota Land Cruisers at Camp Marmal. The vehicles were purchased by public procurement procedure that was open for car dealers in Afghanistan.
The training of the Afghan National Police in Pol-e-Khomri continued under the guidance of Hungarian police officers, who had been sent from the Ministry of Interior to the European Union Police Mission in Afghanistan (EUPOL).

Just like a thousand year ago our forces are proud to wear the medals for merit, which speak instead of those who wear them and about them. We all know that our soldiers in the operational theatre are working hard, in a tight manner away from their home and their families.
The weather was nicer for the spectators on the second day of the Air Show and the programs could start just on time, at 9.00 o’clock in the morning. Visitors were continuously arriving to the Airbase and the best places had been filled up quickly. There were many people at other display spots, both adults and children who could familiarize with military instruments and weapons.
MoD Parliamentary State Secretary Dr. István Simicskó ceremonially opened the 11th International Air and Military Show on August 7 at the HDF 59th Szentgyörgyi Dezsõ Air Base in Kecskemét. Although initially it was foggy, the first aircraft were cleared for take-off in the morning hours.

The Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) has in cooperation with the national supervisory authorities conducted a stress test on European banks. The stress test was applied to 91 banks in total, representing an aggregate market share of the European banking sector of more than 65 percent. The stress test includes the banks exposures to sovereign risk.
The Hungarian Government today announced that generic and specialty drug-maker Mylan Inc. will establish a pharmaceutical packaging center in the Komarom Industrial Park. The project is expected to add approximately 400 new jobs to the local economy over the next several years.
During her visit to Budapest on 22 July 2010, Jadranka Kosor, Croatian Prime Minister, met with Orbán Viktor, with whom – among others – she conducted talks about transport and energy connections, as well as the European Union accession process of Croatia. The Ministry of Defence organised its presidency seminar in the framework of the sectoral preparatory training for EU Presidency for the fifth time on 30th June, 2010. At the event Colonel János Tomolya, head of the Unit for Operations, Defence Policy Department, as well as Viktória Nyulász, desk officer of the Unit for Operations, gave lectures on the EU’s operations in Africa and the reasons of the conflicts in the continent.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Hungary welcomes the decision, that as a result of the mediation efforts by the Cuban Roman Catholic Church and Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos of Spain, Cuban authorities shall release 52 political prisoners, and considers this development an initial step towards the actual improvement of the human rights situation in Cuba.
