The 2010 budget constructed and left behind by the Socialist government is characterized by overestimated revenues, underestimated expenditures and, thus, an unrealistic deficit target. The landmines hidden in this year‟s budget have been overlooked by, among other financial organizations, the Fiscal Council. The 500bn HUF “problem” has been corrected by the extraordinary measures taken by the Government of National Issues to keep the deficit target of 3.8, which is an exceptionally low figure in the EU.
The motor park of the Hungarian National Ambulance and Emergency Service should be modernized with the addition of about 50 new emergency ambulance and some 100 new basic units by the end of the summer, thanks to the measures taken by the State Secretariat for Health.

The Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran accredited to the UN in Vienna addressed a letter to several representations in Vienna, among them the delegation of the European Union and the Hungarian delegation, inviting the addressees to participate in a visit to unspecified Iranian nuclear facilities in January 2011.
A Volunteer Reserve System was established in Hungary on 1 January, 2011. At fifty-seven barracks and military establishments of the HDF security guards have been replaced by reservists. The Hungarian Defence Forces have started to set up a Volunteer Reserve Force with the authorization of the Parliament.
Fourteen soldiers took the oath at the barracks of HDF 5th ‘Istvan Bocskai’ Infantry Brigade on January 2. After the Changing of the Guard Ceremony the reservists took over service. The event was opened by Brigadier General Gábor Böröndi, Commander of HDF 5th Istvan Bocskai Infantry Brigade.

Criticism 1: The proposed levying of high fines may create the opportunity for the government to exert pressure on Hungarian media. The proposed legislation would allow sanctioning of the heads of the outlets violating the law (head or editor-in-chief of the publisher) as well. The National Radio and Television Commission (ORTT) also applied the sanctions of fines and temporary suspension of broadcasting - it did not, however, terminate the broadcasting right of outlets. Why was this drastic step needed?
