Iván Bába’s Remarks at the Ambassador Mark Palmer Commemoration Ceremony

The funeral of Mark Palmer, former U.S. Ambassador to Hungary from 1986-1990, took place in Washington DC on April 10, 2013. Hungarian and American diplomats – some of them former colleagues of Ambassador Palmer – watched the live broadcast of the funeral ceremony together at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Before the live broadcast, MFA State Secretary Iván Bába delivered the following commemorative remark.

This figure is 1.6 percentage points higher than that of February and exceeds the average registered in March of the last three years (54.2 points).

Event in London to mark National Poetry Day

The letter was read by Hungary’s Ambassador to the United States György Szapáry on Wednesday, at an event commemorating the late diplomat’s legacy. Mark Palmer served in Budapest between 1986 and 1990 and received several awards, including the Hungarian Order of Merit Middle Cross for his efforts in promoting democracy.

Hungary wants to become one of Europe's centres for judicial cooperation and education, Minister of Public Administration and Justice Tibor Navracsics said on Tuesday.
