State Secretary for Rural Development Zsolt V. Németh has reported to the Parliament's European Affair Committee on rural development funding and support. The State Secretary indicated that "rural development is also a decisive element in the draft of the European Union's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) for the period after 2013."
The State Secretary added, "Within its agricultural policy, the EU does not plan to fundamentally change its rural development policy within the upcoming planning period. However, the LEADER approach – meaning an increase in the role played by communities – will be introduced on a wider scale that previously with relation to the realisation of development projects. Plans include freezing EU funding for rural development at the 2013 nominal level, although the exact figure remains unknown."
