This year, the Environment Month's conference series once again promises a wide variety of interesting lectures. The initiative was launched in 2003 by the Cultural and Cooperation Department of the French Embassy, the French Institute and the Ministry of Rural Development.

The goal of the event is to draw attention to the importance of conservation each year, and to further French-Hungarian professional cooperation and the exchange of experiences. The programme of the French Institute in Budapest would no longer be complete without the Environment Month's conference series.

The topics of this year's Environment Month include for example sustainable habitats, renewable energy resources and our hidden treasure, the caves. Lectures are held by representatives of national and local environmental rights bodies, of local governments, architecture offices, the commercial sector and non-governmental organisations, as well as by highly trained experts from scientific life.

The programme is enriched by the screening of various films: the series of events will be opened by Zoltán Török's wonderful nature documentary Vad Magyarország ("Wild Hungary"), and closed by the La Salle International Photo Team 3D's film entitled Földalatti Csodák ("Underground Wonders"), screened in 3D.

Further information and the full Environment Month programme are available here in French and Hungarian.
