Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas has ordered the targeted monitoring of frozen marine fish throughout the country. During testing, inspectors check that packaging includes the required information in accordance with regulations and the thickness of the permitted layer of ice on fish, in addition to performing tests of a sensory and toxicological nature.
Inspectors can be expected throughout the country until the end of the winter food chain monitoring period on 31 December. Inspections of retail outlets include the examination of sales conditions (e.g. signs that goods have been defrosted and then re-frozen) and the tracking of the products in question (information on the packaging regarding the first destination of the imported goods in Hungary).
