While some member states are lobbying to do away with the agricultural support system, at the Luxembourg meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council Sándor Fazekas agreed with his French counterpart that the level of support provided to farmers must not decrease after 2014.

During the course of their bilateral talks, Bruno Le Maire és Sándor Fazekas also agreed that both countries would support this standpoint during the ongoing discussions on the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

Commissioner Dacian Ciolos presented the CAP's 2013 reform package on October 12, 2011. Today is the first opportunity for ministers to present their views on the plan at the council meeting. Ministers are expected to meet several times during the course of the Polish presidency in an attempt to come to an agreement on the future of the CAP.
