Hungarian Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas opened the Prodexpo 2013 food industry exhibition in Moscow, together with Russian agriculture officials. Mr. Fazekas is in Moscow at the invitation of Russian Minister for Agriculture Nikolai Fyodorov, where he will be holding bilateral talks.

Following the opening ceremony, Minister Fazekas toured the stands of the 20 Hungarian exhibitors, with the President of the Russian Chamber of Agriculture. The products on show, mainly fruit and vegetables, meat products and wines, gave a uniform image of high quality Hungarian foods.

Sándor Fazekas will hold discussions with Minister Fyodorov tomorrow on the further development of bilateral cooperation in agriculture. The Russian Federation will be guest of honour at the OMÉK 2013 agriculture and food industry trade fair to be held in Budapest in September.

Parallel to the ministerial meeting, discussions on food safety and hygiene will also take place between Secretary of State for Food Chain Supervision Dr. Endre Kardeván and Sergey Dankvert, head of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Rosselkhoznadzor, on reinforcing cooperation between the two countries' animal and plant health authorities.
