The Ministry of Rural Development is supporting the planned project of Luxembourg majority owned SDK Hungarn Ltd, as a result of which a new electronic waste disassembly and recycling plant will be built in Karcag.
The new plant, which will be built on a 5-hectare plot in the Karcag Industrial Park, will allow the integrated processing of electronic household waste and refrigerators under the most modern conditions and in accordance with the strictest environmental regulations. The facilities will provide jobs for 150 people from the local area.
After signing the declaration of support, Sándor Fazekas stressed that the Ministry supports all initiatives that facilitate the protection of the environment and contributes to sustainable development while utilizing the best practises and technology.
We currently use more resources than sustainability permits. If resources become depleted, the economy will face serious difficulties, and this is one of the reasons why it is important that we retrieve and recycle valuable raw materials from electronic waste.
Hans Peter Walter, Managing Director of SDK Hungarn Ltd, told those present that the company would be applying the most up-to-date Luxembourg model in Hungary, which is also supported by the various environmental bodies of the European Union. The foundation stone will be laid in June 2012, and the plant is scheduled to begin production in the second quarter of 2013.
The ceremonial signing of the declaration of support was also attended by Vice-President of the Parliamentary Committee on Sustainable Development Andor Nagy, President of the decision-making supervisory committee of the National Waste Management Agency Antal Jártas, the Mayor of Karcag László Dobos, and the Managing Director of the Karcag Industrial Park Nándor Varga.
