"The genetic stock found in our herds and stables is a valuable treasure that could once again raise Hungarian horse breeding, horse racing and equestrian tourism to among the global leaders", Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas declared at the Best Kitchen Garden award ceremony during the Equestrian Days event in Karcag.
Value-creating work leads to the stabilisation of the economy of rural Hungary and helps families to make a living, the Minister added, stressing that the equestrian sector is also important from a cultural perspective, forming part of Hungarian history, helping to keep traditions alive and save slowly disappearing crafts.
Mr. Fazekas announced that the "Hungary's most beautiful kitchen garden 2013" competition had achieved its objective, bringing new colour to rural life. The competition had shown many young people that it is worth farming on both a small and large scale, because it is possible to make a good living in the land of our birth through hard work, the Minister said.
