Katalin Tóth, the Ministry of Rural Development's Deputy State Secretary for International Relations and Brazilian Ambassador to Hungary Valter Pecly Moreira have signed an inter-ministerial declaration of intent regarding cooperation in fish management.
The document also provides an official framework for cooperation within the fields of science, university education, training and research technology, trade and investment.
The declaration of intent was signed in Budapest at the second session of the Hungarian-Brazilian Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation.Katalin Tóth expressed her acknowledgement of the results achieved so far within the field of aquaculture, in which Hungary has a long history of tradition, noting especially the joint achievements regarding the development of aquaponics systems and the application of environmentally friendly and water-saving technologies.
In view of the fact that water is a key resource for both countries, future cooperation in water management was also at the focus of attention during the meeting. The Ministry of Rural Development's representative recommended Hungary's world class water management higher education courses to prospective Brazilian students, in addition to which a presentation was held to introduce a space-saving and cost effective Hungarian biological wastewater treatment technology that enables sustainable development.
