The National Institute of Public Administration and the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) jointly organised the meeting of the EIPA Board of Governors, on 6-7 June 2011, in the context of the Hungarian EU Presidency. During the two-day meeting, the exclusive guests discussed the most important recent matters and current issues of the first half of 2011. Henning Christophersen, the Chairman of the EIPA Board of Governors gave an interview for the official website of the government.
On 12 July, the Temporary Senate of the National University for Civil Service Studies – which is to prepare operation of the new university from 1 January 2012 – held its inaugural meeting in the assembly hall of the Police Academy. Government decision-making does not stop during the summer: ‘The pace is maintained’. The Cabinet's agenda for the rest of the year comprises 164 laws, decisions and decrees, including decisions related to the implementation of the Széll Kálmán Plan, the budget for 2012, and the creation of many cardinal Acts related to the new Fundamental Law. At his government spokesperson’s press conference on Friday, Minister of State for Government Communication Zoltán Kovács gave an account of the decisions made at the government cabinet meeting, measures related to the Széll Kálmán Plan, and measures coming into force on 1 July.
‘It is fitting for our compatriot, who is also about to become a fellow citizen, to celebrate this here with us today,’ said Zsolt Semjén, Deputy Prime Minister responsible for national priorities, at a press conference on Monday in the central domed hall of the Hungarian Parliament Building. Organised by the Hungarian EU Presidency, the 56th meeting of EUPAN – the European network of directors general responsible for public administration in the European Union – was held in Gödöllő on 23-24 June 2011. It was also attended by representatives of Trade Unions’ National and European administration Delegation (TUNED).
The Justice and Home Affairs Council of the European Union adopted the Budapest Roadmap for victim protection on 10 June. The Roadmap creates the possibility for Europe-wide protection of victims.
