Today’s young people shape the Hungary of the future, therefore talents must be recognized to be even more determined in accomplishing their goals – said the Minister of Public Administration and Justice when he handed out the ‘Youth for youth’ awards for young people at the European Youth Centre in Budapest this Monday.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Tibor Navracsics it is also of remarkable importance to recognize, promote and encourage outstanding artists and people with a public sense, as it may set an example for their generation. As Tibor Navracsics said, everyone’s best interest is to see that the future of Hungary is determined by valuable and social people.
The Minister awarded a ‘Youth for youth’ prize in honour of the activities of Viven Sinka to find missing children. Thanks to her efforts by an online campaign launched two years ago, dozens of missing children have been found, among them one saved from clutches of traffickers or another brought home from abroad. The 23-year-old girl from Veszprém has established the ‘Together for Missing Children Foundation’ and created a Facebook page, as well a development of a national network is among her objectives.
During the ceremony two additional awards were handed out in categories “inspiration” and “innovation”.
17-year-old Balázs Zsombori received a prize in the category of “innovation”. He developed an application for Android systems which gets pictograms and/or graphic illustrations converted into grammatically correct sentences and read them out loud. The software may help speech impaired people in communicating and even orientating tourists as well.
The prize for “inspiration” was won by the formation called ‘Spark of Music’. Musicians Márk Horváth and András Keleti help children to get familiar with music. With their involvement, young people may form groups and ensembles to write music together and end up performing on stages later on as well.
The awards were handed out for the second time based on Facebook votes, chosen from candidates by a professional jury. The award is given to people who motivate their peers through ideas and show off good practices. A million HUF grant is the associated fee.
