Upon the invitation of Attila Rácz, President of FIDESZ in Békés, Zsuzsanna Répás, Deputy Minister of State for National Policy, reported on the results of simplified nationalisation at a press conference held in Békés.
The Deputy Minister of State explained that the citizenship act adopted in 2010 with practical unanimity finally provides to us the opportunity to heal the wounds of the referendum of 5 December 2004. She added that it is hard for Hungarians abroad to forget the result of that referendum and the degrading campaign of the Socialists back then. This is also why the Hungarian government considers it an outstanding achievement that the 500,000th nationalised Hungarian, Csaba Böjte, could take the oath of Hungarian citizenship upon the anniversary of that disgraceful referendum. Following the press conference, a residential forum with the title “Border Castles of the Hungarian Nation” was held, where Zsuzsanna Répás informed the audience about the situation of national policy from the change of regime until today. The Deputy Minister of State touched upon the position occupied by national policy within Hungarian public administration, as well as the most important consultative forums of Hungarian-Hungarian dialogue, such as the Hungarian Permanent Conference, the Hungarian Diaspora Council, and the Forum of Hungarian Representatives from the Carpathian Basin. She also touched upon the thematic programmes of the Minister of State’s Office for National Policy, the primary objective of which is to reinforce the Hungarian system of institutions abroad, with special focus on educational institutions. Briefly she provided information on the current problems of Hungarian communities living in the neighbouring countries.
