Hungary’s introduction at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, attracted over 1.5 million visitors during the past two weeks, state secretary at the Hungarian public administration ministry Mónika Balatoni said on Sunday, the closing day of the festival.

The state secretary added that Hungary’s Budapest Bistro, set up at the festival, had sold more than 10,000 portions of Hungarian specialities on July 4. “I could not figure better promotion for Hungary than this,” Balatoni said about the festival programme, which facilitated the introduction of a hundred Hungarian artists and artisans to the US capital.
