Published by the European Commission this Monday, the Justice Scoreboard spectacularly confirms the results of the Hungarian judicial reform – told Minister of Public Administration and Justice Tibor Navracsics, Deputy Prime Minister to the Hungarian News Agency.

The Minister emphasized that figures clearly show that in Hungary the independence of justice strengthened compared to 2010, since Hungary advanced from its previous place of 72nd to the 66th among the nearly 150 countries of the survey which takes data into account from 2010 to 2012 and overtaking countries including the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Slovenia and Slovakia.

As Tibor Navracsics noted, Hungary performs as the third best among EU Member States, based on data regarding the length of civil and commercial court procedures.

The Deputy PM continued with remarking that confidence of Hungarian citizens in the justice system casts above EU average, noting that in comparison with the EU mean of 53 per cent, Hungarian citizens trust the justice system with a score of 58 per cent.

All this shows that despite attacks, the justice reform has reached its objective and “a more effective institutional system could be set up in the last few years, serving public trust in a better way” – said Tibor Navracsics.
