The Debrecen member of the contact point bureau network organised at county level has opened its gates. The bureau established as a result of the institution building under the new generation plus programme was inaugurated by dr. Péter Mihalovics, ministerial commissioner in charge of the future of the new generation programme, János Halász, minister of state for culture, and Béla Somogyi, deputy mayor of Debrecen.
“The aim of the Contact Point network to involve as many young people as possible in learning about the opportunities offered by the initiative, and to convey information to the widest range of youngsters possible (be they secondary school students or entrepreneurs, or job seekers) that may help them to get on and to create their own means for living. Contact Point staff members calling on young people are also a guarantee to ensure that information and individually tailored advice is indeed delivered to young people”, emphasized Dr. Péter Mihalovics, Ministerial Commissioner, at the opening ceremony of the Bureau.
János Halász, Minister of State for Culture stated that addressing the needs of young people was a real investment in the future, and that the Contact Point Bureau may bring new values to Debrecen in joint cooperation with the existing institutions.
Béla Somogyi, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen, added that the options, instruments and professional assistance offered to young people were essential in order to for them to be able to pursue and achieve their own ideas.
The Contact Point Bureau also serving as a collection point of youth and civil initiatives, opened its gates in the heart of Debrecen, at the Youth Centre, where anyone has the opportunity to learn more about the services offered by the youth support network together with other youth support communities, in one single place. The bureau network established within the scope of the institution building of the New Generation Plus programme provides, among other things, individual and group career choice, lifestyle, employment advisory services and community space for useful pastime, and they also organise various professional and leisure activities, and they visit “everyday” locations to focus on problems by way of their “call-on” youth support work performed.
The New Generation Plus Project will rely on three billion forints of EU funds, subjected to the expert supervision of the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice.
