Preliminary figures show that about one thousand litres of blood were donated to Hungary’s National Blood Service (OVSZ) at twenty-seven venues across the country – in seven ministries, in each county-town and in every Government office – on the blood donation day specially organised for government officials.

According to estimates so far, approximately 2,300 government officials participated in the event. For those who could not donate blood by the end of the day, an additional date was proposed by OVSZ, and in some Government offices blood donation continued on 7 June.
Hungary’s first ever National Blood Donation Day was organised on 6 June 2011 by the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice.
