Minister of National Development Tamás Fellegi presented the Government's economic policy priorities at a closed economic meeting held for the representatives of German business sphere at the German Embassy in Budapest on 16th November 2010. Mr. Fellegi also spoke about the background of introducing temporary crisis taxes aiming at the equitable sharing of taxation.
Tamás Fellegi confirmed that the most important tasks of the Government were the revitalisation of the Hungarian economy and the ambitious creation of jobs. The leader of the development portfolio stressed that the foundations for rebuilding the Hungarian economy had to be laid in the coming year.
Regarding the temporary crisis taxes, Mr Fellegi emphasized that their introduction was required for strengthening the financial stability of Hungary and the Hungarian economy.
The development minister pointed out that the second Orbán Government was creating this new model of proportional taxation through the temporary crisis taxes established under the aegis of the mutual undertaking of burdens instead of the restrictive economic policy of the previous socialist governments.
Speaking about the possibilities of German-Hungarian cooperation, Mr Fellegi underlined the cooperation in the fields of research and development, the implementation of the European Danube Region Strategy, as well as the foundation of the joint Hungarian-German Climate Research Institute.
