On invitation from China, in his capacity as Government Commissioner for Hungarian-Chinese Economic Relations, Tamás Fellegi will have talks with high-ranking government officials, businessmen and investors in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shenzhen and Chongqing between 15-22 April 2011.

During his trip, the minister will have meetings with the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, Foreign Ministry, Railway Ministry, Transport Ministry, Aviation Authority, the Central Bank of China and the managers of numerous large corporations. The purpose of his visit is to promote progress in bilateral economic and trade relations, Hungary’s export opportunities and large-volume Chinese investment to create jobs in Hungary.

During the discussions, the parties will map further co-operation opportunities in infrastructure, electronics, information technology and tourism development, as well as commercial, financial, aviation, R&D, culture and education.

In the course of his trip to China, Mr. Fellegi will visit Chongqing to open the new offices of the local Hungarian consulate general that will create the conditions of visa issues according to the Shcengen criteria. The office will be instrumental in the development of mutually beneficial business co-operations and investment projects between Hungary and Chongqing, and through this city, the entire inner China region. As a result of easier visa issues, the number of tourists, businessmen and investors arriving at Hungary, and through Hungary at Europe, may significantly increase.

On behalf of the Hungarian Government, Tamás Fellegi warmly welcomes that in the wake of the negotiations conducted by Prime Minister in October 2010 and the talks held by Mr Fellegi in December, Huawei, one of the leading telecommunication companies of China has now decided to permanently relocate its supply centre (which has been operating on a test basis) in Hungary. The Commissioner held out the prospect that in the course of its current visit further opportunities for the extension of co-operation will be discussed with Huawei’s top management.

The delegation includes Deputy CEO of the Hungarian Development Bank, Zoltán Urbán; General Manager of the Hungarian State Debt Management Centre, Gyula Pleischinger, General Manager of the Hungarian Railways, Ferenc Szarvas, and leader of the Office of the Government Commissioner for Hungarian-Chinese economic relations, Dániel Mendelényi.
