As a result of a project managed by the Governmental Information-Technology Development Agency (GITDA) online bankcard payment (VPOS) has been an option in increasing number of procedures in public administration since the end of March. The system implemented with the support of the New Széchenyi Plan justified the preliminary expectations already in the first period.
Payment by bankcard from home via the internet first became and option at the Justice Payment Portal of the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice (MPAJ). Payment obligations related to the submission of company reports may be performed this way since 26 May 2013. The experiences of the nearly three months since the go-live are positive; the systems efficiently managed the temporary increase in the load due to the submission deadline at the end of May.
The option of payment by bankcard via the internet next became available at the office of government issued documents. Electronic administration related to the application for certificates of good conduct, to the replacement of personal identity cards and to vehicles has become complete since 23 April 2013, when this option was introduced. Online payment may be initiated from anywhere around the clock. The positive welcome of the service and its gradual spreading are confirmed by the fact that over 1500 VPOS payments were performed to date in the total amount of approx. HUF 4.3 billion.
Based on the experiences gained so far, significant demand may also arise for the introduction of this service in fields other than the court of registration and the office of government issued documents. In the interest of modern and fast public administration procedures the Ministry of National Development and its background institutions aim at the spreading of existing and further electronic payment methods.
