Vehicles, technical tools and protective gears have been donated to the Disaster Management Authority by the Government, in addition to which the voluntary fire fighter associations received financial support.
At the ceremony held in Budapest on Thursday, Minister of Interior Sándor Pintér said that these developments help to ensure that settlements have the necessary staff and technical tools available in emergency situations, as well as contributing to the public safety.
The Minister referred to the re-organisation and centralisation of disaster management as a correct decision that was proven by the efficiency of the protection provided during the recent Danube flood. He added that the centralised forces operated in an organised manner throughout the flood.
The 46 vehicles provided include four wheel drive vehicles, radiation detection units, critical infrastructure deployment vehicles and a renovated track-driven amphibious vehicle.
Minister Pintér also presented 367 voluntary fire fighter associations with over HUF 91 million worth of technical tools, protection gear and funding. He expressed his hope that similar funding would also be included in next year’s budget.
