Ministry of Interior held a press conference to announce the current tasks of public employment in 2012.
“The 2012 Budget of Hungary has earmarked and ensured a total of HUF 132,2 billion (EUR 440,6 million) for public employment development” – highlighted Károly Papp, the Deputy State Secretary for Public Employment.
“Public employment for the temporary winter period has been prepared in November 2011 already, employment centers received recourses for December and January” – informed Károly Papp.
“The Ministry of Interior fully meets the target of abolishing short-term public employment of 4 hours per working day this year as participants of the programme are going to work 6 or 8 hours per day. – emphasized the Deputy State Secretary.
There are basically three areas of public employment in 2012: micro-regional model programmes, public employment programmes organized by local governments and national public employment programmes are continuing.
Water sector, Forestry, Hungarian State Railways, Hungarian Public Road Company, State Motorway Management Company, National Police Headquarters, National Directorate General for Disaster Management are drawn into employing.
According to experiences of last year micro-regional programmes proved to be successful and will be continued in 2012 too. “Pursuant to the decision of the Minister of Interior, Sándor Pintér, these offer an opportunity for all the 19 counties in Hungary, for the 97 most disadvantaged micro-regions and for 1816 local governments” – said Károly Papp. Local governments receive a total aid package to implement the micro-regional model programme. In line with local features public employment can be realized in the following areas: participation in agricultural activities, maintenance of dirt and public roads, rehabilitation of internal water drainage systems and riverbeds, elimination of illegal waste disposal rounds, involvement into biomass production programme.
Public employment of local governments aims to support the activity of several local government authorities. “Our well-established system stays the same; we are not planning on changing that” – emphasized the Deputy State Secretary.
