On Monday, the Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) held an open day for the Roma-Gipsy under-privileged youth, who are interested in police carrier.

Those who start their career now are in worse situation then twenty years ago, because there are a lot more jobs to choose from, but less information is available – pointed out Tamás Tóth brigadier general, the Police Commissioner of Budapest. He said that the BRFK organised the open day and the show together with the Capital’s Gipsy Self-government. Tamás Tóth emphasised that the main aim of the event, beyond giving information on the admission requirements, and on the career opportunities, is to present the heart of the police career: the law-enforcement is a kind of service for citizens, and at the same time, carried out on their money

The representation of all social strata, and that way the creation of the variegated police is very important – added the Police Commissioner of Budapest. Speaking to young participants, he added that the picture of the police’ job widely spread is completely different from the reality; the paper-work, the routinely made inspections, and the service made in public places are not fragments from a crime movie. It is necessary to do this profession whole-heartedly, conscientiously, big perseverance and desperation necessary to it, and the result of this a diverse, stable career. – closed his speech Tamás Tóth.

The Chair of the Capital’s Gipsy Self-government, István Makai underlined the importance of the cooperation with police. He recommended law enforcement careers to the attention of young people as an opportunity that may change their life in future.

On behalf of the Ministry of Interior, Krisztina Rostás in charge for Roma-Gipsy affairs informed the audience on the preparatory camp for police career that will be organised for applicants of Roma origin in July 2011. (You can read more about the camp here.)

In the frame of the open day, the employees of the Department for Crime Prevention of Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK), and the representatives of secondary vocational schools for Police introduced the opportunities of police career to the audience.
