All celebratory events and processions of 23 October were peaceful and disciplined. Police forces secured the locations and according to reports immediate action was only necessary in four cases.
One of these took place at Ferenciek square, where far-right protesters verbally insulted the participants of the Milla (One Million People for Hungarian Freedom of Press) demonstration. The Police acted immediately and re-established order by installing a double fence to separate the two groups.
According to police estimations 150,000 people attended the pro-government March for Peace that started at the Széna square, on the Buda side of the capital, crossed the Danube on the Margit bridge and finally reached Kossuth Square where Prime Minister Viktor Orbán delivered his speech in front of almost 400, 000 people.
The Milla demonstration at Elizabeth Bridge was attended by nearly 20,000, few thousand people attended radical nationalist Jobbik's event and several hundred people participated in former Prime Minister Gyurcsány’s Democratic Coalition's (DK) event.
