We had an effective and successful Presidency, during which Hungary had to lead and organize the work of Europe – said Interior Minister Sándor Pintér at a ceremony held in the honour of participants of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

“This task could only be achieved through active cooperation” – stressed the Minister, who added that the Ministry of Interior has received overall positive feedback after the end of the Hungarian EU Presidency.

Mr Pintér emphasized that Hungary had hosted 261 Presidency events during the first half of 2011 and the Ministry of Interior or its authorities attended all of them.

The Interior Minister expressed his gratitude to all of those who helped the work of the Presidency and also voiced his hope that the remaining three years of the government’s term will be spent with work of similar intensity.

“We are relaxed and relieved to say that the Hungarian Presidency has been completed successfully” – said Krisztina Berta Deputy State Secretary for EU.

She also stressed that according to authentic opinions the field of Interior Affairs was significant part of the Presidency and the work achieved provides a good foundation for future tasks.
