“I trust that our cooperation contributes to the decrease of illegal migrants from South-Balkan” – emphasized Interior Minister Sándor Pintér on the doorstep press conference after a negotiation with Constantin-Traian Igas Romanian Minister of Interior and Administration.

Sándor Pintér said: our negotiation was fluent and efficient. Ministers discussed issues relating to illegal migrants from Afghanistan and Pakistan which put great pressure on both countries. “I hope that through our cooperation public safety and order will improve in Hungary and Romania and citizens can feel protected and safe.”

Romanian and Hungarian policemen will discuss the options for law enforcement cooperation on a conference held on Friday in Nagyvárad.”I expect from the colleagues to work fast and effective” – outlined the Hungarian Minister.

According to Sándor Pintér Romania and Bulgaria have fulfilled the technical requirements for Schengen membership and their accession will be probably taken in the near future.

Constantin-Traian Igas stressed: We have reviewed the results of the Salzburg Forum meeting held in Bulgaria this week. Ministers have agreed that similar negotiations will take place more often in the future which are likely to help reducing crime.

Romanian Minister said: there has been a large increase in the number of road traffic accidents in both countries therefore a working group will be established to examine this issue.
