On the Salzburg Forum Ministerial Conference Hungary recommended that Salzburg Forum States should not only cooperate in the rapid implementation of the EU Directive on facilitating the cross-border exchange of information on traffic offences which has recently entered into force and had been negotiated under the Hungarian EU Presidency but should also promote the implementation of decisions finding infringement and imposing fines.
Penalties for infringement of traffic legislations committed by foreigners in Hungary and by Hungarian citizens abroad could be recovered by this.
During the Salzburg Forum Ministerial Conference held on 16th November 2011 in Pravets Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance the intensive cooperation over the past month with the aim to realize the signing of a Multilateral Agreement in the near future preferably in the first half of 2012. Dr. Károly Kontrát Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Interior represented Hungary on the meeting.
Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the delegates of Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia.
