Following a negotiation Hungarian Minister of the Interior Sándor Pintér and Serbian Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić signed an “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of Hungary on Road, Railway and Water Traffic Border Control” at Horgos border crossing in Serbia.

Under the terms of the agreement a new border crossing point will be constructed between Ásotthalom and Bački Vinogradi by the end of the year and the border point between Röszke and Horgos will be reopened.

At the meeting it was discussed that cooperation is an essential instrument to manage migration effectively, legally and at the same time by a humane method. Austria is an important partner in this cooperation. Previously agreed initiative between the three countries will be continued which will provide an opportunity to use EU funds.
