The Hungarian and Chinese immigration authorities signed a treaty on cooperation in the fields of professional training and the exchange of information.
According to Zsuzsanna Végh, Director-General of the Hungarian Office of Immigration and Nationality, the cooperation is useful to both countries since it affords the opportunity to exchange relevant information regarding migration. She also added that the treaty makes travelling easier for students and businessmen.
She explained that the Chinese party provided important information on the border control system and the high-level IT system for biometric passports.
The Hungarian party reported that at the end of February 2013 there were 14 300 Chinese citizens legally in the country for a period of time longer than 90 days.
Zsuzsanna Végh emphasized that Hungary is the first EU member country to sign such an agreement with the Chinese partner.
