State Secretary for Sport István Simicskó acknowledges the gesture of Olympic, World and European champion swimmer Dániel Gyurta. After his Olympic success, Gyurta declared that he wished to pay his tribute to his tragically deceased Norwegian friend, World and European champion Alexander Dale Oen, by presenting a copy of his gold medal.

The award ceremony took place in Norway during the Hamar Gala, an event similar to the Sportsman of the Year ceremony, at which the Hungarian Olympic champion made a commemorative speech in Norwegian.

According to Jenő Kamuti, President of the International Fair Play Committee, Dániel Gyurta will receive a Fair Play Award in the most prestigious category of „sportsmanlike acts”. He will receive the award at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, on 18 September.
