Minister of State for Higher Education István Klinghammer declared that state-financed graduates should work in the country for the same period as their courses last, rather than the current regulation that requires them to work in Hungary for double the period of their study time.
According to the Minister of State, a new version of the student agreement may be developed and agreed on before the end of April, adding that the Ministry is in constant negotiations with the National Union of Students to come to an appropriate agreement.
István Klinghammer stated that repayment for students terminating their contracts should be eased so they might repay the cost of their studies at a preferential interest rate.
The Minister of State indicated that courses should be divided into three diminishing price categories: medical courses and chemistry, engineering and other sciences, as well as less expensive humanities and economics.
He said that the current minimum points requirement for secondary-school applicants to enter universities was low. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán set this level as a gesture to the young generation but this level would have to be raised in future because students with poor skills cannot cope with university requirements.
