Hungarian light-heavyweight boxer Zsolt Erdei (39) announced at a press conference on Wednesday that he will fight at least another professional match for the WBO European Champion title on 8 March in the central Hungarian city of Kecskemét.

Minister of State for Sports István Simicskó said at the press conference that Erdei is both loved and respected by the people of Hungary and that the Ministry of Human Resources supports this match and will also contribute to it financially.

Erdei said this would probably be his last fight, but if the match ends well for him and he feels good enough, he may not exclude the possibility of continuing his career.

He is the former undefeated Lineal & WBO light-heavyweight champion, WBC cruiserweight champion and the first Hungarian to win a world title in two weight divisions. Erdei boxed at the 2000 Summer Olympics, where he won a bronze medal in the middleweight division. He won 33 of his 34 professional fights. His only defeat was last year at the hands of Russian Denis Grachev in a controversial split decision.
