State-subsidised kindergarten places are also available to those children, whose parents receive childcare support, Minister of State for Social and Family Affairs Miklós Soltész said at a press conference on Wednesday.
He said that by the end of this administration’s current term (in April) the Government will have spent 28 billion forints (EUR 91,000) on creating an additional 5,000 nursery places. He also said the Government is currently looking at where additional nursery places will be needed during the 2014-2020 EU budget period.
Mr. Soltész said the press conference was convened to dispel opposition rumours that childcare benefit extra was not payable after each child. He said childcare benefit extra was available for every child under the age of three and twins naturally counted as two children.
He said the childcare benefit extra system put in place by the Government was beneficial for mothers who wished to return to work, young couples wanting to have babies and couples who wanted more children. He said that the various childcare benefits and the family tax relief made a significant difference for 260,000 families who will be left with 55 billion forints (EUR 179 million) in additional income by the Government this year.
