The International Bartók Seminar and Festival opens on 13 July in Szombathely. The programme of the opening concert, as the festival itself, begins with The Miraculous Mandarin suite, followed by La Giro, a composition by Louis Andriessen, featuring Monica Germino violin solo artist. The opening concert will also include a premiere. "I Got Riff", a work by Balázs Horváth will be performed for the first time. This piece was exclusively commissioned by the Philharmonia for the 28th Bartók Festival.
This year the programme of the International Bartók Seminar and Festival comprises dance, an attendant art form closest to and interwoven with music. During the one-week period of the festival not only the Savaria Symphony Orchestra participates in the concerts but the world-famous Amadinda Percussion Group, other instrumental soloists, folk music and jazz ensembles as well as contemporary dance formations will also perform there. Almost all branches of the art of dance, including its most special forms, will be presented in the programme.
The master courses will be headed by world-famous professors like Zoltán Peskó, László Tihanyi (conducting), Loius Andriessen, Fabio Nieder (composing) Imre Rohmann (piano), György Lakatos (bassoon) and György Pauk (violin).
The International Bartók Seminar and Festival is organized by the Philharmonia Concert and Festival Agency.
