This year's 40 million Hungarian forint production budget for the funding of theatres outside Hungary will be raised to HUF 50 million next year, in addition to which a new HUF 32 million tender is expected to be launched by the Ministry of Human Resources (EMMI) - Minister of State for Culture János Halász announced at the Cross-Border Theatres Forum held at the National Theatre on 11 December 2013.

As Mr. Halász explained, the tender for next year's guest performances will be organised so that both Hungarian theatres and other cross-border theatres will have the opportunity to invite Hungarian theatre productions from other countries. The 32 million forint tender is aimed at helping cross-border theatres stage a series of Hungarian performances in a festival-like manner.

Discussions were also held as to the exact direction of funding and Government attention paid to cross-border theatres, including what problems it should address and how the funding system should be operated.
