The Hungarian ambulance service will be much more efficient in the future, thanks to the new integrated command centre software, State Minister for Health Miklós Szócska said at a press conference on Tuesday. The new command software is currently being installed and operators receive their training.
Mr Szócska reminded that while in the last three years of the previous administration the ambulance service didn’t get any new cars, in the past three years 120 new ambulances have been put into service.
At the press conference five new ambulance cars have also been shown which are already compatible with the new command software and which are just the first batch of a total 200 new ambulances. The development of the system also includes the modernization of 60 ambulance stations as the construction of 22 new ones.
The entire project is financed by the European Union at a cost of 10.9 billion forints (EUR 35 million). The command software alone will cost 1.92 billion forints (EUR 6.17 million).
