On the occasion of the World Marriage Day, Miklós Soltész, state secretary responsible for social, family and youth affairs of the Ministry of National Resources, delivered, during a ceremony, the first commemorative plaquette “Together” to a young couple just married. The ceremonial event was also attended by Balázs Bús, mayor of Óbuda.

In the future all couples contracting civil marriage in Hungary will receive such a plaquette from the registrar, expressing the significance of marriage for the community of the nation, as it is the first step towards becoming a family.

The basic unit of the society is family, which is grounded on marriage, the joint work of art of the man and the woman. The fruit of marriage is the child who will later, in his/her adulthood, maintain the welfare system. Marriage, family and children do strengthen not only the society. More children are born of lifetime partnerships, the child is joy, is able to support parents in adulthood therefore married people live longer.

On the second Sunday of each February the World Marriage Day is celebrated all over the world, initiated in the United States in 1983. Said day points out the obviousness that it is good to live in marriage and in family.
